Cannabis flower essential oil, also known as hemp essential oil, is obtained by steam distillation from the flowers and upper leaves of the Cannabis plant. It should not be confused with hemp oil, which is a vegetable oil that is expeller pressed from the seeds of low-THC varieties of hemp such as Anka, Crag, Finola, and USO.
A pale yellow to light green liquid, cannabis flower essential oil is a volatile oil that is a mixture of volatile compounds, including monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, and other terpenoid-like compounds. It is manufactured primarily in France and Switzerland from both low-THC and high-THC varieties of Cannabis while having little to no THC content at all.
This essential oil is used as a scent in perfumes, cosmetics, soaps, and candles. It is also used as a flavoring in foods, primarily candy and beverages.
